This role calls for managing the tax affairs of Otis’ Asian operations and holdings in a manner that ensures compliance with the law in all jurisdictions while, at the same time, minimizing the company’s tax burden.

Essential Responsibilities
- Communicates, collaborates and coordinates with other members of the Otis tax group, as well as other headquarter and business functions, as appropriate and necessary
- Supports the Tax Planning group in assessing, defining and focusing the organization on priorities
- Directs staff to ensure that activities are consistent with agreed-upon international tax objectives
- Identifies, develops and implements tax strategies supporting the company’s effective tax-rate objectives
- Leads and supports due-diligence and planning and implementation with respect to acquisitions, joint ventures and dispositions
- Develops and manages relationships with outside advisors
- Advises on tax implications of changes in capital structures, shareholders and funding of activities
- Maintains an understanding of tax filings, and tracks them within the region, to ensure a clear understanding of who is responsible for compliance, due dates and key issues in material returns
- Maintains an understanding of tax-audit activities and supports the resolution of tax issues
- Tracks, communicates and plans for changes in tax law in relevant jurisdictions -Assists and supports data collection and review of information required for U.S. tax reporting -Supports U.S. audit activities
- Supports Otis businesses and advises them on the tax implications of their transactions
- Build relationships with the Otis businesses (business leaders, Finance, Legal, Business Development) to promote tax awareness and support tax initiatives
- Assists and supports data collection and review of information required for U.S. tax reporting
- Responsible for providing primary input into staff development
- The position will have anticipated travel of 15 to 20 percent

Education/Certifications
- An undergraduate degree in accounting or other financial discipline
- CPA or equivalent and/or other financial certification
- Advanced degree (JD or MST) preferred
Basic Qualifications
- Twelve-plus years of international tax experience
- A global perspective of tax issues affecting multinational enterprises
- Strong knowledge of Chinese tax systems and working knowledge of other major Asian tax systems
- Ability to identify and prioritize key opportunities and risks related to business operations
- Ability to understand complex tax concepts and apply those concepts to minimize taxes
- Ability to direct research and to implement complex tax-planning strategies
- An understanding of the impact of taxes on the financial statements, and an ability to identify opportunities to combine tax and accounting knowledge to improve business results
- Ability to resolve complex technical issues, and recognize the need to identify and seek out internal or external subject-matter expertise
- Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability and desire to communicate, collaborate and coordinate with other members of the Tax group
- Ability to lead and coach people
- A passion for results
- A flexibility and willingness to work with others and share and shift responsibilities and resources on an interim basis in response to demands
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure and independently and carry out assigned responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

The successful candidate will drive regional tax planning and strategy for the Asia region and develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the numerous regional tax jurisdictions. The position will proactively manage the tax affairs of Otis’ Asia operations and holdings in a manner that ensures compliance with the law in all jurisdictions while, at the same time, minimizing the company’s tax burden.

-Supports the tracking of tax filings within the region, to ensure a clear understanding of who is responsible for compliance, due dates and key issues in material returns
-Good knowledge of Chinese tax systems and some working knowledge of other major Asian tax systems
-Maintains an understanding of tax-audit activities and issues
-Tracks, communicates and plans for changes in tax law in relevant jurisdictions
-Supports businesses and advises on the tax implications of their business transactions o Builds relationships with the businesses (business leaders, Finance, Legal, Business Development) to promote tax awareness and support tax initiatives
-Assists and supports data collection and review of information required for U.S. tax reporting -Supports U.S. audit activities
-Assists business units in the planning of their activities to minimize foreign taxes payable and to ensure any foreign-tax minimization is consistent with Otis’ overall U.S. tax objectives
-The position will have anticipated travel of 10 to 15 percent

Education/Certifications
